RAWALPINDI: Police claimed to have smashed an intra district gang by arresting its five members along with its ring leader during an action besides recovering ornaments and arms from their possession.
The gang was active in Jhelum and Attock and committed robberies there, the police said.
On the directives of City Police Officer CPO Akhtar Umer Hayat Lailaka, a team was constituted under the supervision of SP Saddar Arif Shahbaz Khan Station House Officer SHO Saddar Barooni Jahangir Akhtar who worked day night to arrest the robbers wanted for their involvement robbery dacoity and heinous crimes.
The dacoits entered in a house located in Afshan Colony in the jurisdiction of Race Course Police station and opened a indiscriminate firing as a result a policeman was killed.
The case has been registered in the police station Saddar Barooni and further investigation is underway.
