QUETTA: At least one person has been killed and 15 others wounded when a bomb exploded in Quetta, officials say.
The incident happened in the Pashtunabad area on the outskirts of the capital of oil and gas-rich southwest Balochistan province bordering Iran and Afghanistan.
"A time device planted along the road side close to several pushcarts selling mainly dry fruits went off, killing one person and wounding 15 others," local bomb disposal chief Abdul Razzaq said.
He said the target was not clear, but the area is dominated by Afghan refugees.
A senior local police official Abdul Razzaq Cheema also confirmed the incident and casualties.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the explosion.
Balochistan has been badly hit by a decade-long Baloch separatist insurgency and sectarian violence mainly targeting Hazara ethnic community.
