Ex-MQM leader Saleem Shahzad wants to quit politics

LONDON: Former senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Saleem Shahzad on Thursday expressed his desire to relinquish politics in a bid to utilise his experience in some other area.

Once considered one of the most active mainstream politician of the party took to Twitter to announce the decision he was considering. Shahzad said this was his family’s wish and added that a ‘bright and peaceful Karachi’ was his dream.

Shahzad was suspended from the MQM a few years ago and since then has not taken part in the party politics. He, however, regularly attended the party events in its London Secretariat.

The former MQM leader had previously spoken out against a ‘mafia’ in the party working against its chief Altaf Hussain.
