Russia warns UK, France to 'stop playing with fire,' CIA chief visits Moscow to deliver NATO warning

Russia has threatened to attack the United Kingdom’s military sites over its support for Ukraine in the ongoing war between the two countries.

This comes after the UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced the release of the blueprint of British-made components for the Storm Shadow/SCALP missile, so Ukraine can develop their own version of the missile.

The Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned that if Ukraine continued to strike targets inside Russia with British-made weapons, Moscow could retaliate by attacking UK’s military sites.

She also warned that France and the UK were “playing with fire,” adding, “Moscow has taken notice of the UK PM's announcement. Andy Burnham’s government understands, I believe, where this will lead.”

Amid all the threats, the United States (U.S.) Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Chief John Ratcliffe travelled to Moscow to deliver a warning against attacking any North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) member country.

During the trip, unannounced to the public, the American spy chief also urged Russia to cut economic and military ties with Iran.

Russia earlier said that it had no information regarding the CIA chief’s visit; however, later confirmed that he held talks with intelligence officials but did not meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Talking about Ratcliffe’s trip, President Trump downplayed its significance, saying, “It was sort of semi-routine.”
