KARACHI: A large number of NADRA employees on Saturday staged a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club led by Irfan Malik, President Employees Union Sindh (CBA).
They were chanting slogans against the authorities and demanded of the president, prime minister and interior minister to play their role in granting rights to the employees of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
They demanded that the data entry operators be given BPS-12 just like other employees of state organs were granted, besides demanding an end to forced transfers and removals.
They also called for provision of medical facilities and housing schemes for the employees.
CBA spokesman Syed Noman Anwar told media that NADRA chairman Tariq Malik was a dual national and was facing an inquiry by the interior ministry.
He lamented that Mr Malik who had been receiving huge amount as salary but was completely indifferent to the miseries of lower scale employees.
Anwar warned that the protest campaign might be expanded in different phases if their demands were not met.
