IHC reinstates Zaka Ashraf as PCB chief
ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf was reinstated as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday.

Zaka Ashraf had filed an intra court appeal against his dismissal from the post of chairman PCB.

Justice Shaukat Aziz had ordered the dismissal of Zaka Ashraf from his office, however the IHC has reinstated him to his post on his intra court appeal.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Ashraf said he would start going to office in the next day or two. Ashraf added that there was no politics involved in cricket and his cooperation would continue irrespective of the government.

In July 2013, the IHC in its detailed judgment had declared Ashra’s appointment illegal and made on basis of personal relations instead of experience.

Moreover, the court ordered the Election Commission to hold PCB elections within 90 days.

The decision stated that the chairman PCB should abide by article 62, 63 of the Constitution, under which a first class or test cricketer or a graduate could contest in the PCB elections.

The government had appointed Najam Sethi as the acting chairman PCB following the dismissal of Ashraf.
