17 students killed in Nawabshah accident

NAWABSHAH: At least 17 students and three staff members of a school were killed in a horrific traffic accident here on Wednesday.

The accident took place on Qazi Ahmed Link Road when a school bus collided with a truck head on. Police said 17 students between the ages of 10 to 16 were killed in the accident and several others injured. According to doctors the condition of some of the injured students was critical.

The students were traveling back home to Daulatpur after taking part in a competition in Nawabshah.

After receiving news of the accident, the families of students rushed to the hospital where an emergency was declared.

According to the police, the driver of the truck fled from the scene and a search for him is underway. Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah has summoned the report of the accident from the district administration.
