Taliban claim responsibility for Karachi police bus attack
MIRANSHAH: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the bombing of a police bus in Karachi which claimed the lives of 13 policemen.

TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said the attack in Karachi was in retaliation to the killing of their members by police and Rangers in Peshawar, Swabi and Karachi.

"We carried out the attack against the police because they are killing our people," he said over the telephone from an undisclosed location.

"Our defensive war will continue until an agreement is reached on a ceasefire" between negotiation teams representing the government and the Taliban.

Committees formed by the government and nominated by the Taliban are engaged in talks seeking to bring an end to the wave of violence which has plagued Pakistan. Both sides have emphasised on the need for a ceasefire for the talks to be successful
