Govt finalizes E Crimes bill: Anusha Rahman
ISLAMABAD: State Minister of Information Technology & Telecom Anusha Rahman on Saturday said that a comprehensive Cyber Crime Bill has been finalized that would be tabled before the cabinet for approval within next week.

She stated this while chairing a meeting to review the final draft of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill 2014 here.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary IT Akhlaq A. Tarrar member IT Yasir Qadir member Telecom and representatives from the Ministry of Law, PTA, FIA, ISPAK, PASHA and Barrister Zahid Jamil.

The object of the meeting was to discuss the final draft of bill before its submission to the cabinet expected early next week said a press release. The minister said that bill had been prepared with the consultation of all stakeholders over the last three years saying that international best practices have been taken into consideration while drafting it.

Anusha was of the view that in this technology era there is a dire need that illegal and unauthorized access to information system and its abuse should be addressed under the Cyber Crimes Law in accordance with the international practices.

She said that cyber crimes should be addressed with special legislation. Terming it a good achievement, the minister appreciated the ceaseless efforts of all stakeholders, in particular, the positive role of ISPAK & PASHA in finalizing this draft. At the occasion State Minister directed to upload the draft on official website of the ministry for public information.
