PESHAWAR: Member Taliban committee, Professor Ibrahim says there is a lack of confidence between the government and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)
Ibrahim’s statement comes on a day when the TTP ceasefire expired after a ten day extension by the banned organisation.
The Taliban committee member told reporters that talks could be held in Islamabad or Peshawar after confidence was restored between the two sides. “We are working towards the restoration of confidence.”
Ibrahim added that Taliban demands of a peace zone and release of non-combatant prisoners had not been met. He said a list of prisoners released had not been provided to the Taliban committee.
According to Ibrahim the demand to release Professor Ajmal would be made to the Taliban after the release of prisoners.
Professor Ibrahim said Taliban leader Mullah Omar has made statements that he wanted to see peace in Pakistan and an end to terrorist activity.
