Iran crowned in IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship
FUJAIRAH, UAE: Iranian cueist Hossein Vafaei Ayouri has demonstrated remarkable skills in the 25th edition of the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship and clinched the gold medal of the prestigious international event.

On Monday, the 19-year-old athlete beat Ireland’s Josh Boileau by eight frames to three in a competitive six-hour-long match at Hotel Concorde in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Vafaei Ayouri emerged from the round-robin stage as the top seed having surrendered only a solitary frame in the process and was in complete control of most of his knock-out encounters.

In the semi-finals, he compiled an impressive 147 break, clearing the colors in a cool fashion as he surged through the penultimate round in style.

Vafaei Ayouri, who won the 2011 IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship in Montreal, Canada, has added a second world title to his collection after Monday’s dominating display.

In the women’s section, 20-year-old Aussie Jessica Woods Australia defeated Amornrat Uamduang from Thailand, four frames to three in a tense final to stand on top of the podium.

The 2014 IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship began in the UAE on May 10, and wrapped up on May 19.

As many as 86 athletes from 29 countries took part in the tourney.
The IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship (also known as the World Amateur Under-21 Snooker Championship) is the premier non-professional junior snooker tournament in the world.

The event series is sanctioned by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and started from 1987.
