Code of conduct required for live coverage: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Tuesday that some media groups acted irresponsibly during Sunday night’s attack at the the Karachi airport.



Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Nisar said a code of conduct was required for news channels during live coverage. “It is essential to verify reports before they are broadcast during live coverage.”

The interior minister also clarified that the attack had taken place two kilometres away and not at the Karachi airport. Nisar added that terrorists wanted to hold the airport hostage and cause damage to planes.

According to Nisar, terrorists entered the old terminal in two groups but due to the swift action of security forces were surrounded in 15 minutes.

Nisar further said the terrorists were killed within two hours and were carrying latest weapons including rocket launchers.
