ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties staged a walkout from the National Assembly over the death of Minhajul Quran workers during police action in Lahore.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Opposition leader Khursheed Shah said the government was increasing the strength of Dr Tahirul Qadri. Shah called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stop his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Shah claimed that Shahbaz Sharif was conspiring against his brother adding that 'we are trying to get rid of the Taliban while the Punjab government is doing terrorism.'
Speaking to the media outside Parliament, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Javed Hashmi said this was not the democratic way.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar said removing barriers which had been placed a long time ago was equivalent to creating chaos. The MQM also announced a day or mourning on Wednesday.
At least eight people were killed and several injured when police and Minhajul Quran workers clashed in Lahore. Minhajul Quran workers pelted police with stones and chanted slogans against the government as law enforces tried to remove blockades placed outside the secretariat of the organization and residence of Dr Tahirul Qadri.
