ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has suspended readmission agreements with the western countries except United Kingdom because of its ‘blatant misuse’.
This was announced by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Friday afternoon, Radio Pakistan reported.
He said under re-admission agreements, Pakistanis travelling illegally to any Western country were to be deported after proper verification. However, most of the countries were deporting them without verification by Pakistani authorities, and last year alone 90,000people were sent back to Pakistan, he added.
The minister said for the last several months another dangerous trend has emerged under which Pakistanis travelling abroad without documents were deported on charges of terrorism without verification whether or not they actually were Pakistanis.
To a question, the interior minister said India’s true face has been exposed before the international community because of recent acts of violence against minorities especially Muslims.
Chaudhry Nisar said during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to the United States, it was conveyed to the US leadership that there were double standards in regards to their policy on India and Pakistan.
Commenting over National Action Plan (NAP), he said a new operation was going to be launched in next few days against facilitators of terrorists, who he claimed have been identified.
The interior minister further said effective measures have been taken to address the problem of corruption in NADRA, FIA and CDA.
