I am an Indian and will remain so, Sania Mirza to India’s BJP

DELHI: Tennis star Sania Mirza in her tit-for-tat reply to BJP lawmaker’s statement on Thursday said she is an Indian and will remain so until the end of her life.

An MP from India’s ruling Bhartiya Jannata Party (BJP) had criticized the appointment of tennis player Sania Mirza as brand ambassador of the newly-created Telangana state, saying that she is married to a Pakistani man.

Sania Mirza chose to use her twitter account to make public her befitting response. She tweeted:

Bollywood mega superstar Salman Khan showing all out support to Sania Mirsa tweeted:

It may be noted here that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had handed over a letter of appointment and a cheque worth 10m rupees to Sania Mirza at a function in the state capital, Hyderabad.
