PTI, PAT won’t accept martial law: Qureshi
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) will not accept martial law and that government will be responsible if the situation descended into chaos, said PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi after his meeting with PAT leaders here on Tuesday.

Talking to media representatives, Qureshi clarified that those who think PTI was out to derail government should know that ‘it is not our agenda’.

“Imran Khan’s struggle spanning over 18 years is not a result of anyone’s prompts,” he added.

He said the objective of PTI’s democratic movement is purely for the establishment of democracy in Pakistan in letter and spirit. “We are peaceful people and our movement will be based on non-violence,” he added.

Shah Mhemood Qureshi said those who are accusing PTI of reading from a script should make public the name of its writer. “We have chosen to go back to the people after being fed up with the non-serious attitude of the government (towards real issues),” he clarified.

He said some are of the view that PTI has been engaged in its activities to secure a safe exit for former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. “Let me tell them that we have nothing to do with Pervez Musharraf,” he said, adding ‘we must not be counted on any side when it comes to Musharraf’s issue’.

Without elaborating, Qureshi said PTI and PAT had reached an agreement on four points.

He said if the government had any sympathy for the people of Lahore it should remove the containers at once.

On the occasion, PAT leader Raheeq Abbasi said a detailed discussed was held with PTI leadership on ‘Azadi March’ and ‘Revolution March’.

He said the two parties will continue to remain in contact in the future as well.
