Government did not give permission for Inquilab March: Qadri
LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Inquilab March is proceeding to Islamabad after leaving from Model Town earlier on Thursday.

A large number of PAT workers are present in the march and several others are expected to join along the route.

PAT chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri told Geo News that the government had not given permission for the Inquilab March, rather his workers conducted overnight reconnaissance to discover a route leading out of Model Town.

Dr Qadri said the Punjab government’s focus was on major roads and his workers after conducting reconnaissance discovered a way from within Model Town where security was lackluster.

The PAT chief’s statement contradicts that of Punjab Governor Chaudnry Muhammad Sarwar who told Geo News that both the PTI and PAT had been given permission to take their marches till Zero Point in Islamabad.

Earlier, addressing a press conference outside Minhajul Quran in Model Town, Dr Qadri said, “The Inquilab March is leaving Model Town for Islamabad. I want to wish the country a happy Independence Day. The revolution march will give the constitutional and democratic rights to the oppressed of this country.”

He also unveiled the goals of his revolution march before leaving and said that the fundamental purpose of this march is to restore democracy and alleviate poverty. He said that his revolution would provide people with their social rights and would practice accountability of leaders to abolish corruption.

Furthermore, he also said that introducing electoral reforms is also one of the basic goals of his revolution and said that there would be no space for martial law.

Dr Qadri said that it would remove terrorism and extremism from the country while provision of efficient justice would also be ensured.

Protection of minorities and women rights were also part of his revolution goals.
