ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party leader and former president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Aitzaz Ahsan Thursday said that judges should abstain from handing down rulings on political issues.
Speaking in Geo News programme “Aaj Geo News Kay Saath”, Aitzaz Ahsan said no demand can be declared unconstitutional rather an act or procedure to implement it may fall in the category of being called so.
“Demands for Prime Minister’s resignation echo every other day in the National Assembly hall,” he noted, adding ‘the Premier and Chief Minister Punjab had to face a demand 10 times to step down on the Model Town issue’.
He said a march or protest cannot be termed unconstitutional if it is taken out peacefully while the law is silent in case of any difficulty that the people might have to face in its consequence.
Aitzaz Ahsan further said that the venue of the proposed sit-ins falls out of the jurisdiction of Lahore High Court (LHC).
