PAT Sit-In: Qadri gives 48-hour deadline to govt

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has presented the charter of demands.

Addressing his workers Qadri called for the immediate arrest of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. The PAT chief also called for the formation of a new national government.



He told PAT workers not to leave until there is a revolution in the country.

He gave a 48-hour deadline to the government asking the rulers to resign. "I will not be responsible after the deadline," he said.

"Prime minister and cabinet members be put on ECL, DG FIA will be responsible if the rulers flee Pakistan, " he warned.

Charter of Demands
1. Nawaz Shaif and Shahbaz Sharif should resign immediately over Model Town tragedy. They should be arrested and treated like ordinary citizens. PAT workers will not leave until Nawaz and Shahbaz are arrested. PM Nawaz, CM Shahbaz should be arrested. They along with cabinet members should be placed on ECL.
2. Parliament and provincial assemblies should be dissolved immediately as they were formed unconstitutionally. Members were elected in violation of article 62 and 63.
3. After assemblies are dissolved a new national government should be formed for democratic reform.
4. New national government will hold corrupt individuals accountable.
5. New national government will present a ten point economic agenda aimed at providing facilities for the poor.
6. Subsidy should be provided on electricity and food items
7. There should be respectable employment for women.
8. Inequality should be wiped out.
9. Sectarianism and terrorism should be eliminated
10. Minorities should be given equal rights.
12. There should be greater devolution in Pakistan. Qadri calls for the formation of 23 new provinces.
13. State institutions should be depoliticized.

14:00 Dr Tahirul Qadri appeared on the stage and addressed the crowd during which he said that he will present his charter of demands and charter of reforms at 4:00pm today. He said that it is not a sit-in but a revolution march.



He saluted the marchers for their passion and said that he along with his supporters remained awake for 38 hours. He was offered to rest at Chaudhry Brothers’ residence but he refused and said that he would not leave his workers alone.

Dr Qadri criticized the Islamabad administration and told that he held dialogues for three consecutive days and was finally allowed to stay at Khayaban-e-Suhrawardy, Aabpara at 11:00pm last night.
