ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Allama Tahirul Qadri Wednesday announced the ongoing dialogue with the government completely failed and that 'tomorrow (Thursday) will be the day of revolution'.
Addressing the participants of the sit-in outside the Parliament House, he said the negotiators even failed to meet the two of PAT’s several demands.
He said these two demands included resignation of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and registration of FIRs against 21 people, including the Prime Minister, in connection with Model Town tragedy case.
Earlier, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan had also announced to halt the talks with the government and linked their resumption to the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The situation could plunge into chaos today if protesters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and those of PAT make a decision to march towards the Parliament House.
“We gave the talks and democracy a best shot and now we stand liberated of all moral bindings. Now no one can raise a voice of complaint against us,” Tahirul Qadri said.
He said the option of talks was given a full chance but now the doors to negotiations with the government stand permanently closed.
He said he would make the last speech of his ongoing sit-in on Thursday evening. “You will have to make a final decision tomorrow,” he told the participants.
Earlier, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan, who represented the government panel for talks with the PAT leader Tahirul Qadri, also addressed the sit-inners. He said all the legitimate demands of the PAT and its supporters should be fulfilled in accordance with the law and constitution.
Dr. Ishratul Ebad further said that his party Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)chief Altaf Hussain had spent sleepless nights since the beginning of the protests.
He said so far Altaf Hussain had managed to remain patient but warned that today's development may push him to the limit where the MQM chief may have to choose to stand with the protesters.
The government panel that met the PAT leader comprised Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar and Abdul Qadir Baloch.
