PM Nawaz is lying about who requested Army chief meeting: Qadri
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri has accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of lying in regards to who had asked the army to mediate in the political crisis.

The PAT chief addressed participants of his sit-in and claimed that a message had been sent from Army chief General Raheel Sharif that the government had requested the army to be a mediator. Qadri said it was after this that he and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan held separate meeting with the Army chief.

Tahirul Qadri said he met the Army chief after seeking permission from the participants of the PAT sit-in. He added that the agenda was extensive which is why the meeting lasted for over three hours.

According to Qadri he also met the Army chief along with PTI chairman Imran Khan.

The PAT chief further said that fraud was committed in the Model Town tragedy FIR, adding that if the Sharif brothers did not resign by evening the army’s role as mediator could not progress further.

Earlier while addressing the National Assembly, Prime Minister Sharif said his government had not requested nor had the army asked to act as a mediator in helping resolve the political crisis in the country. The prime minister added that meetings had been requested by the PTI chairman and PAT chief.

On Thursday, PTI chairman Imran Khan and PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri met Army chief General Raheel Sharif amid the growing political crisis. It was reported that the government had asked the army to act as a mediator.
