ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif addressed the joint session of Parliament on Tuesday and described the unprecedented rains and outcome of climate change.
Mr. Asif said 128 people had died as floods affected 436,000 citizens in different areas of the country.
According to Asif, MET Office officials had predicted below normal rainfall during the monsoon season and preparations were made accordingly. The minister briefed the Parliament on the loss of life and property caused due to rains and flooding.
Asif added that flash floods will reach Guddu Barrage on September 14 but will be less than capacity, thus there is no risk of any damage there.
