ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri has called of the campaign directing his supporters to write ‘Go Nawaz Go’ on currency notes.
Addressing his supporters at the PAT sit-in, Qadri said after conducting research it was found that writing on currency notes was illegal.
In a statement the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) clarified to the general public and banks that defacement of currency notes will render the notes ineligible for use. Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar also cautioned that scribbling or writing on currency notes was illegal and would render them useless.
On Sunday, PAT Chief, Tahirul Qadri had announced the start of a campaign which called on his supporters to write ‘Go Nawaz Go’ on currency notes. The PAT chief also announced the start of a hunger camp.
