SANGHAR: Protests erupted here on Tuesday after police raided the residence Shahid Nizamani the former advisor of Chief Minister Sindh.
The Nizamani neighbourhood of Sanghar District resembled a warzone this morning as clashes took place between police and protesters. Residents of the area were gripped with fear as a result of firing and tear gas shelling.
According to sources, a few days ago the Nizamani and Bugti tribes clashed over a land dispute. Two people supported by the Nizamani tribe were killed while several others were injured. Police lodged cases against the former CM Sindh advisor, members of the Nizamani and Bugti tribes.
The police conducted a raid at Shahid Nizamani’s residence in connection with his case following which tension spread throughout the area. Protesters started patrolling the city in groups while announcements were made from Mosques to remain indoors. Police also surrounded the Nizamani neighbourhood.
