LAHORE: Interior Minister on Saturday released instructions to be followed by landlords and others who are in the business of providing residences or hostels on rent.
According to the instructions:
-- monitoring will be conducted of the buildings and hostels provided on rent. -- from now onwards a landlord will have to get his residential property registered before having tenants. -- identification of the tenants is a must. Two references will also be required. -- the rent agreement will also have to provide details of tenants aged over 14 years. -- the rent agreement must be got registered from a notary public or an oath commissioner. -- the local police stations will be responsible for keeping the record of tenants in their jurisdiction. -- violation of rent-related laws will be an unbailable crime. -- no outsider except for the registered students will be allowed to live in a hostel.
