CM Hoti okays separate varsity for Karak
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has approved provision of land for establishment of separate university in Karak and urged the federal government to undertake measures for realizing this project.

He was chairing a high level meeting here at his office on Monday.

Matters pertaining to both options establishment of sub campus of Kohat University of Science and Technology and separate university were discussed in detail. The option for establishment of separate university on demand of the people of Karak has been approved.

Participants of the meeting were people representatives from Karak, Provincial minister Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel, MPA Malik Qasim, President ANP Karak Usman Gul Khattak, General Secretary Zamir Bacha, secretary Finance Sahibzada Saeed, Secretary Higher Education farah Hamid, secretary P&D Usman Gul, vice chancellor Kohat university, Commissioner Kohat Sahibzada Anis Ahmad and other notables.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that his government was following policy of generalizing higher education facilities in every nook and corner of the province adding Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and its sub campuses in different districts supplement this fact. He assured provision of land for establishment of university in Karak and undertaking required legislation in this connection.

Location for the proposed university has been pin pointed during the meeting while resources for purchase of the land will equally be provided by the provincial government and from royalty of oil and gas.

The CM directed concerned authorities for speedy completion of phases of acquiring land and required legislation. He said that people of Karak and associated districts will benefit from higher education facility with establishment of the university and it will create long lasting impacts eradication of backwardness and illiteracy from the area.

Meanwhile, chairing a meeting regarding Tanzim lissail Wal-Mahrom, the CM stressed the extension of services of the tanzim to more and more needy people and directed for adaptation of more effective and active procedure in this connection. Participants of the meeting were administrative secretaries of finance, P&D and social welfare department, principal secretary to CM, Chairman of the Tanzim Fazal Rahmani and project director Syed Kamran Shah.

The project director highlighted the purpose, administrative structure, funding, goals, successes, expenses and other matters of the tanzim in detail. Certain recommendations in this connection were also reviewed on the occasion.

It merits a mention here that this tanzim under special initiatives of the CM was providing services to poor, needy, orphans and widows in health, education and social welfare sectors. (APP)
