MULTAN: Public held hostage as well as manhandled four uniformed cops over allegedly attempting a heist, Geo News reporter.
Reportedly, the alleged policemen-cum-dacoits from Shah Shams Police Station tried to rob a trader at gunpoint in the Purani Sabzi Mandi area of Multan. Upon this the trader shouted for help and scores of people dashed to the scene answering his call. The cops, outnumbered by the mob, were soon taken to the task, and had nowhere to run from the wrath of angry throng until their colleagues came to rescue.
Later the policemen pled not guilty saying, they were there to investigate an issue on the request of a man named Zahoor and the mob was mobilized only to obstruct their official duties.
Talking to Geo News, SSP Cantonment parroted the version of his subordinates, vowing action against the agressors who laid hands on uniformed police officers.
