ECP displays new electoral rolls

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark move, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has launched the world’s biggest short message service (SMS) for 85 million voters today (Wednesday) besides displaying new electoral rolls at over 5,000 display centres across the country on the same day.

Anyone who sends his/her computerised national identity card (CNIC) number on 8300, will get voting details such as electoral area name, block code, tehsil/district name and serial number along with his/her CNIC number within a few seconds.

The facility will be formally launched here at the Election Commission Secretariat today.
