ISLAMABAD: A new spell of snowfall along with rain has kicked off in northern areas of the country including Chitral and Ghazar where 10 people were killed by being buried under an avalanche on Tuesday, Geo News reported.
According to sources, four people including one child and two women were killed when their house was buried under snow in District Ghazar. Two others were also injured in the same incident.
Snow slide also killed three persons in Garam Chasma area of Chitral while two are still trapped under the snow. Chitral Scouts were also participating in rescue efforts.
Heavy rain and snowfall in Malakand, Chitral, Muzaffarabad, Neelam Valley and some other northern areas are hampering rescue work where at least ten persons were injured in different incidents.
Karakoram Highway was also blocked due to landsliding while other road links were also blocked.
