LHC seeks loadshedding schedule
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday resumed the hearing of loadshedding case and expressed anger over not producing the complete loadshedding record from the federal government, Geo News reported Tuesday.

During today’s hearing, Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed expressed his resentment over not producing the loadshedding schedule of Presidency, Prime Minister House, Governor Houses and other residences availed by the high ranking officials

He warned of contempt proceedings against violation of court orders and gave time till next hearing for the provision of record. He remarked that if loadshedding can be halted during Pakistan-India cricket match, then why does it torture the masses in other days.

The court adjourned the hearing till April 2 and directed to produce detailed reply.

Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed had earlier sought complete record of load shedding from the federal government. He also directed the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to inform until March 20 about taxes the consumers were paying through electricity bills.

The CJ was hearing a petition filed by Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) Chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique. The petitioner had requested the court to exempt courts and hospitals from loadshedding.
