Protest against loadshedding in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: Scores of citizens protested against unannounced electricity load shedding in the city Monday, Geo News reported.

According to sources, people resorted to stage protest demonstration against prolonged hours of loadshedding, reaching up to 20 hours.

Angry protesters blocked the Samundari road and attacked several vehicles. On the other hand, police witnessed the entire scene as mute audience, sources added.

On Sunday, traders and shopkeepers protested against unannounced loadshedding and levy of fuel adjustment charges of summer season with fresh bills in Multan.

The protest rally was led by chief of traders chamber Khalid Mehmood Qureshi. They also burnt their electricity bills. Traders and industrialists of Multan threatened a civil disobedience movement over long term power loadshedding, suspension of gas supplies and levy of fuel adjustment charges on general consumers.

The traders announced that protest demonstrations would be held in various cities of the Southern Punjab during first phase of the movement, followed by the second stage with a long march to Islamabad and sit-in outside Parliament. In last phase of the movement, they said, the traders community will call for a civil disobedience, if the rulers did not address their grievances.
