LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president, Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday grieved over the loss of precious lives in Gilgit Baltistan, Geo News reported.
Sharif brothers in a statement issued here, appealed to the clerics of all schools of thought to play due role in appeasing the country.
In his statement Nawaz Sharif said the government had turned a blind eye to the wholesale slaughter of innocent citizens from Karachi to Gilgit, which was utterly shameful.
“The federal government’s claims of providing security to the fellow countrymen are nothing but lip-service as all the so-called measures it has taken have bitten the dust”, he said.
He said the blood of all the innocents getting mowed down across the country was on the rulers’ hands.
Sharif expressed his deepest condolences for the victims of Gilgit massacre.
It is pertiment to mention that a hand grenade was thrown at protesters gathered at Aath Chowk on the call of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) in Gilgit on Tuesday.
The grenade attack killed two men and injured 35 others, while at least 12 more people died and about four-dozen others were injured in the violence that followed the attack.
