ISLAMABAD: Sardar Ayaz Sadiq submitted his nomination papers for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan on Saturday. Sources claim the ruling PMLN is hoping to get him elected unopposed.
Ayaz Sadiq who was elected as Speaker when the ruling party formed the government was disqualified after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) raised allegations of rigging in the constituency Sadiq had been elected from.
Speaking to journalists after submitting his nomination papers, Ayaz Sadiq thanked the party leadership for nominating him for the post of Speaker for the second time and hinted that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the JUI-F have confirmed their support while talks are in the offing with Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi and the MQM as well.
