BANNU: Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Akbar Hoti said on Sunday that the aim of the attackers was to free Adnan Rasheed who was involved in the attack on former President Pervez Musharraf.
Speaking to the media after visiting the Bannu jail, IG KP said 21 prisoners on death row were among the 400 who escaped during the attack on the prison.
Hoti added that 100 prisoners had returned and the police reached the prison when they received news of the attack. The IG KP further said that he had directed that security be increased at other prisons across the province.
