KARACHI: The run up to the Local Government elections in Karachi has started to warm up, as the Sindh province is set to witness second and third phases of the LG polls on November 19 and December 5 respectively.
Adressing a joint press conference here, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders called for army deployment during the Local Government polls in Karachi city.
PTI leader Ali Zaidi said his party had broken the shackles of fear during the by-polls in Karachi's NA-246. He said the Election Commission knows about the violations in Local Government polls.
Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said his party decided to extend JI-PTI partnership in Karachi to restore the real image of Karachi.
"We will make public what we have given to Karachi but Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) should come forward first as to what the Altaf-led party has done for the city", he added.
In a separate press conference, the chief of Muhajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) Afaq Ahmed said Pakistan People's Party (PPP), JI, PTI and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) have no stake in the city.
"Casting vote in favour of PTI and JI is a bigger sin than voting for Altaf's MQM", Afaq said.
