HYDERABAD: Many cities of Sindh are observing a wheel jam and shutter down strike after Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) announced province-wide protest Saturday against the substandard and obscure postmortem report of late Nationalist JSQM leader Bashir Khan Qureshi.

Hyderabd, Jamshoro, Padidan, Dadu, Juhi and other cities are observing the strike where businesses were closed and thin transport was observed.

The B.Ed. examination that was scheduled for today under Shah Abdul Latif Universtity, Khairpur, was also canceled and has been re-scheduled on April 30. The LLB part 2 exam has also been deferred and new date for the exam will be announced later.

JSQM workers and leaders in every city and towns of the districts of Sindh took out rallies to distribute handbills and appealed all the civil society, business community and transport services to shut their business and routine activities to support the JSQM call against fake and fabricated reports of death.

While several other Nationalist groups and political parties among Pakistan Muslim League and others supported the JSQM call for the strike today.

Earlier, Sindh Home Minster Manzoor Wassan urged the acting chairman of JSQM, Niaz Kalani, to withdraw the strike call for today, as such strikes cause anxiety amongst the public.

The party leadership suspects that Bashir Qureshi was poisoned to death and apprehends that the chemical examination reports at any government facility might be tempered with.

JSQM chief Bashir Khan Qureshi had died on April 7 after having meal at a private party. The Nationalist party had raised objections over the procedure of postmortem adopted by the government officials and when their complaint was not entertained by the authorities concerned they announced to observe strike across the province.
