DUBAI: The Dubai police foiled a bid to smuggle 52kg of heroin valued at Dhs4 million and arrested four Pakistanis.
According to the Director of the Anti-Narcotics, Major General Abduljalil Mahdi Mohamed Al Asmawi, the investigation of the case started on April 4, when the directorate received information from reliable sources about a gang intending to smuggle a big amount of drugs into the country.
After verification of the information, they put the convict under observation and then managed to disclose the initial details of the operation, Al Asmawi said.
The Director said that they learnt the gang would smuggle the drugs in a shipment of 2,600 boxes of oranges and enter the market of fruits and vegetables. They then would send it to a country in Africa through a Nigerian national.
