MIANWALI: Punjab Health Department has struck once again by fooling the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif into inaugurating a spoof thalassemia center, Geo News reported.

According to sources a blood transfusion center for kids suffering form blood disease was set up and CM Punjab was invited to inaugurate it.

By the time CM arrived at the site, the building looked like a fully equipped facility with kid patients lying on the beds undergoing blood transfusion, but as soon as the CM left the scene after scissoring the ribbon the whole scene started to change.

Within two days after the inauguration, the thalassemia center was closed.

Action against those who were responsible for the hoax came after the media broke the news.

In a statement issued by the Punjab Health Department the three official including Medical Superintendent District Headquarter Hospital Mianwali were suspended in the wake of the disclosure that the thalassemia center was just a put-on.

It is pertinent to mention that during last year’s floods the Health Department had also put one over on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani in the same city using a similar modus operandi.

Reportedly the prime minister visited a medical camp in Mianwali, set up at a government-run school with patients in the beds and everything from doctors to paramedical staff tending to them, but no sooner had the prime minister left the site than the medical camp was gone as if it never existed.
