JUI honours SC verdict: Fazl-ur-Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Tuesday said his party accepts the Supreme Court's ruling, disqualifying Yusuf Raza Gilani as a parliamentarian and prime minister.

"We accept the Supreme Court's verdict," he said in reaction to Gilani's disqualification, adding however, that the democracy must not suffer any damage.

He said the prime minister should have stepped down voluntarily before the Supreme Court's ruling.

Earlier, the Supreme Court disqualified Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani as member of the parliament and prime minister with effect from April 26, 2012 in its short order issued today in NA Speaker's ruling case.
