ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Thursday described the prevailing power crisis as the biggest challenge and directed to undertake uniform loadshedding across the country.
Talking to media persons here, the premier said the political parties and all the power stakeholders were moving ahead on the issue of electricity crisis.
When he was asked to comment on the Supreme Court's instruction to the Attorny General to submit reply on behalf of the PM on writing the letter to Swiss authorities, the accompanying Qamar Zaman Kaira and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar stopped the PM from saying anything on the matter. So, the premier asked the reporters to confine their questions to the issue of power crisis today.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf admitted that the country was facing the worst shortage of electricity and added that all out efforts were being made to overcome the problem.
When asked by when the issue will be resolved, the PM replied: "You are already not forgiving me over the earlier deadlines given by me." However, he said that the Ministry of Water and Power had been directed to not to carry out unscheduled loadshedding at any cost besides ensuring that no district or province was treated unfairly.
