PML-N not stopping CEC appointment: Chaudhry Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Monday that the PML-N was not creating any hurdles the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

In a statement, Nisar doubted the intentions of the government and said if they tried to appoint a CEC of their choice a deadlock would be created.

Nisar said a panel had been formed after consultation with opposition parties in and outside parliament and changes would be made with their recommendations.

The opposition leader added that if transparent elections were to be held the CEC could be appointed immediately, however the governments intentions were not honourable in this regard.
