THATTA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari was given a spectacular welcome by the workers as he led an election rally from Sujawal to Thatta on Sunday amid pro-party slogans.
Bilawal arrived at Sujawal in a helicopter where a large number of people including senior Sindh minister Nisar Khuhro and deputy speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza were gathered to welcome him.
PPP chairman’s 30 kilometre rally took six hours to reach Thatta. Party workers were carrying PPP flags, placards and Bilawal’s photos on the way. Sujawal and Thatta were decorated with party flags.
Bilawal repeatedly came out of his car to answer the slogans of the workers, who also sprinkled flowers on the young party chief.
The rally was taken out in connection with second phase of Local Bodies Elections in Punjab and Sindh, scheduled for November 19.
Tight security arrangements were arranged on the occasion. Police numbers were beefed up while Elite Commandos of SSU had also been deployed. Bomb disposal squad’s teams also accompanied the rally.
After visiting various areas in Thatta, Bilawal left for Karachi. However, he did not address the workers in Thatta due to security concerns.
