LARKANA: The teachers of a government school named ‘Shah Muhammad Primary School’, located in Surhya Locality in the mid of Larkana city in front of Municipal Office, rented out the building to the tailors, mat-weavers and vegetable vendors while its premises is used for charged parking, as the school was closed due to summer vacation.
The local newsmen witnessed at least eight tailors busy sewing in some classrooms while some Pushtoon men were weaving mats in others.
Moreover, pushcarts of vegetable venders were also kept in veranda of the building.
The tailors operated eight sewing machines, irons and other electric equipment using the electricity at the expense of school. The people from Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw also used the rooms as their residence.
The watchman of school Lutuf Ali Marri told newsmen that he doesn’t know about it as the headmaster was responsible for all this.
When contacted, Assistant District Officer Education (Male) Gulsher Soomro said that on the instructions of Director Education Rasool Bux Shah, he had visited the school and found some sewing machines in a room that were taken out. He said an inquiry team has been constituted to probe the matter and record statements of supervisor Gada Hussain Shah, headmaster Bux Qureshi and the watchman. (PPI)
