Sui gas reserves to deplete by 2022: MP&NR
ISLAMABAD: The ministry of petroleum and natural resources (MP&NR) Friday briefing the national assembly standing committee said that the natural gas reserves in Sui would exhaust in next ten years, Geo News reported.

Responding to the standing committee’s query MP& NR officials told that Balochistan gets 12.5 percent royalty on gas, where this amount goes, ask the chief minister of the province.

Federal advisor for petroleum and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) official told the standing committee on inter-provincial coordination that gas production in Sui falling by 5 percent every passing year and these reserves would wear out by 2022.

Dr, Asim Hussain said that the entire burden of development of the district producing gas should not be thrust on the companies, as this was the reason the foreign companies shying away from investments. He said that at least 50 percent of the gas royalty should be spent on the development of the concerned district.

Committee member Nasir Shah said that none from his constituency could get job under Aghaz-e-Haqooq package. The committee recommending the re-instatement of 356 retrenched employees soon said that the employees’ children job quota should also be given.

OGDCL MD told that unskilled persons from among the locals would be recruited on priority, while skilled recruitments would be made only on merit.
