According to DPO Sahiwal, Rana Ayyaz, cops deployed at a picket upon seeing three suspicious men riding motorbikes signaled them to stop but they opened fire at the lawmen.
A counterattack by the cops killed two of the suspected felons on the spot, while the third one escaped, he added.
One of the dead dacoits has been identified as Showkat, resident of Chak 81-DB Pak Pattan, while the other as Shehzad, resident of Chak 89 Sahiwal.
