ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Defence has passed a unanimous resolution that the defence institutions should be given full autonomy and added that a member private from private sector should be appointed in the institutions.
The committee summoned a combined meeting of Ministry of Defence, Defence Productions and Finance Division to solve the financial matters of the Defence Productions in its next meeting.
The committee met here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Mushahid Hussain Syed. Members of the committee Ch. Shujjat Hussain, Farhat Ullah Babar, Sardar Ali Khan, Faisal Raza Abidi, Col. (R) Tahir Hussain Mushahdi, Haji Muhammad Adeel and Raja Zaffar-ul-Haq were also present in the meeting.
The committee expressed pleasure over the self-reliance of the defence institutions, which would strengthen the defence of the country.
Mushahid Hussain said that the war against terrorist is the war of the nation and 40,000 civil and military men lost their lives during the war and also expressed solidarity with the families of martyrs.
Earlier, Officials from Heavy Industries Texila, Pakistan Ordinance Factory Waah and Pakistan Aeronatical Complex briefed the committee about their working performance.
