ISLAMABAD: Sindh Police officials on Tuesday arrested the builder of Moon Gardens after he appeared before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Islamabad.
Abdul Razzak Khamosh was arrested from outside the Supreme Court following his hearing where he was instructed to submit Rs 50 million in cash and Rs 50 million in the form of a bank guarantee.
According to Islamabad Police sources, the Sindh Police party had notified the local police which was assisting them in arresting the accused. Sources add that the Sindh Home Ministry had requested for assistance from the Islamabad Police to ensure that the accused is secured and does not escape from the scene.
Following his arrest the builder was taken to the Secretariat Police station for processing after which he will be handed over to the Sindh Police.
Supreme Court suspends SHC order
Earlier in the day the Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended the Sindh High Court order to seal and demolish the Moon Gardens residential complex in Karachi.
The Supreme Court instructed the builder of the complex to deposit security of 50 million rupees in cash as well as Rs 50 million bank guarantee in the next 15 days.
The Sindh High Court had issued orders to seal and demolish Moon Gardens which is said to have been illegally constructed on Railways Housing property.
The court has also issued orders that no further leases for property at Moon Gardens should be issued until the matter is settled, following which the hearing was adjourned.
