Former Attorney General for US calls on CJP
KARACHI: Former Attorney General for the United States and a Civil/Human Rights Lawyer William Ramsey Clark, called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here on Monday.

The Chief Justice welcomed the distinguished guest on his visit to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Karachi Registry and appreciated his efforts for the cause of human rights as he had been raising voice against crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity in different parts of the World, an official press release said here.

Talking to the foreign guest, the Chief Justice recalled his own visit to the United States in the year 2008 and the services and support by Clark had provided for the cause of rule of law and independence of Judiciary in Pakistan.

The CJP also appreciated the role of lawyers' community in the movement for the restoration of Judiciary and pointed out to him the sacrifices made by the lawyers, particularly, the newcomers/youngsters who stood for the judiciary, as a consequence thereof, the door of military adventurism was closed once for all.

He also appreciated tile role of lawyers' community including the New York Bar Association and the lawyers of Pakistan as a whole for the restoration of the judiciary and establishment of rule of law.

Mr. Clark lauded the efforts of the Supreme Court of Pakistan for enforcement of fundamental rights of the citizens of the country.

He paid tributes to the visionary leadership, commitment, struggle, courage and stance of the Chief Justice of Pakistan for constitutionalism and Independence of Judiciary.

He thanked the CJP for sparing time for him out of his busy schedule. (APP)
