MULTAN: Passengers protested due to the failure of engine of Pakistan Express here in the wee hours of Tuesday, damaging railway offices and pelting stones on the police, Geo news reported.
According to the railway official, the engine of Pakistan Express failed in Multan station when it was traveling from Faisalabad to Karachi after which the passengers staged protest and damaged railway offices.
Protesters climbed to the engine of the train and smashed the glasses, the official added.
Police reached the site to control the situation but protesters started pelting stones due to which police opened aerial firing to disperse the protesting passengers. Police have also detained 10 protesters
DSP railway Farrukh Taimoor said that railway doesn’t have spare engine, however passengers have demanded to change the engine.
