'CNG rate at 80pc of petrol intolerable'

ISLAMABAD: President All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Association, Gayas Paracha warned that in case the price of CNG jacked up to 80pc of the petrol, such a move would be strongly resisted and the matter would be taken to the high court and Supreme Court.

Addressing a news conference here, Gayas Paracha termed the linkage of the price of CNG with petrol and 'its increase' on weekly basis as illegal.

He cautioned that if the proposed summary in this regard was approved by the Economic Coordination Council (ECC), the price of CNG would shoot up to Rs128 per kilogram across the country.

"The boards of gas companies also have within them directors of other fertilizer and other companies who try to protect their own interests," he claimed.

He demanded formation of an independent commission to ensure fair distribution gas.
